The fire had been lit. Smoke drifting into the night sky. Coals smoldering, waiting patiently for the brave people to walk over it. Awaiting in a room within ACCORD Hospice sat thirteen people taking in the safety information and empowering talk, which included… snapping arrows with your neck? I am just as baffled as you!

Once the presentation finished, the group was welcomed to the cheering and whoops of the gathering crowd and the burning coals in the hospice’s carpark. All this to raise precious funds for The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation. 2025 marks the charity’s 15th anniversary, which is a bittersweet moment; however, the first fundraiser of this monumental year went off with a BANG!

Each member walked or marched over the embers listening to the cheers and beating of drums. All participants had beaming smiles and were clearly enjoying themselves when most joined the line for another walk.

Natalie shares some of her experience: “The firewalk was exhilarating and really challenged my perception of how strong my body is and what it can put up with. It was a fun and different way to raise money for a charity very close to my heart.”

Rachel accompanies Natalie’s sentiments with: “I absolutely loved taking part in the firewalk – it was daunting at first but by the end I felt so empowered and it was a great challenge to take on to raise money for Lauren’s charity and all the people we support.”

We, personally, want to thank Gill McLuckie, Natalie Hakeem, Tom Dalling, Mike Rutland, Iain Murray, Tracey MacLeod, Alison Kennedy, Rachel Henderson, Debbie Morris, Marion Hall, Calum McLean, Adrienne and Grant Currie who raised a fantastic £4700!
