Fight Against Vasculitis 5k
The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation would like to thank everyone for showing their support for Lauren’s charity by running, walking, raising sponsorship, stewarding, volunteering at the LCTF marquee or just coming along to cheer people along. You have helped to make the 2012 Vasculitis 5k event a success.
The Fight Against Vasculitis 5k was successfully held on Saturday 28th April at Dean Castle Country Park. It was a fun day with probably the largest park workout for Vasculitis thanks to Tangerine 13 Studios and Jen McGinley from West Fm. 170 runners and walkers warmed up before completing the 3 mile course through the leafy country trails around the Dean Castle. Murray McGiven completed the course in around 18 minutes to take 1st place – Murray was joint 1st at the 2011 event. The event was attended by pupils at Williamwood High School and Hutchiesons’ Grammar School who ran in memory of their friend Lauren who died from Wegeners Granulomatosis aged 15. The event was also attended by people affected by Vasculitis along with their friends and family who helped to raise funds through sponsorship. The event was started in April 2011 as a memorial event to Lauren Currie but has now become an annual event organised by Lauren’s Vasculitis Charity. The 5k event was designed to raise awareness of Vasculitis amongst the general public. The event will also raise funds for LCTF to continue our work in funding Vasculitis Awareness, Education, Research and Patient Support Services.
Join us next year with your friends and family to help us strengthen Vasculitis Awareness and raise vital funds. In the meantime, visit our Facebook public page to view all the pictures from the day – www.facebook.com/thelaurencurrietwilightfoundation
